Leaving a Legacy

Do you wish to leave a legacy of caring for lost, neglected, abused, and abandoned companion animals? Do you want to help make a young child in the future smile when she picks out a puppy to adopt and take home? Would you like to help ensure that all animals get a second chance?

You can do this by making a Legacy Gift to the Humane Society of Central Oregon. This is an easy way to show your lifelong love for animals and to contribute to their future well-being. Plus, it may provide you with tax benefits.

There are many forms your Legacy Gift can take. For example, you can:

  • Make a bequest in your will that directs that the Humane Society of Central Oregon receive a portion of your estate. This can be either a specific amount, a percentage of the estate, or the residual that is left after other bequests and expenses have been processed;
  • Name the Humane Society of Central Oregon as a beneficiary in a life insurance policy, IRA, certificate or deposit, or other financial asset;
  • Make outright gifts of real estate or other appreciable property in your will.
