Volunteer Orientations & Training

A Volunteer Orientation is mandatory for all new volunteers. This orientation introduces you to the HSCO, our programs, policies and volunteer expectations. After completing this orientation, you can sign up for specific trainings based on your volunteer interests.

The available trainings are listed in the position descriptions available on the Volunteer Opportunities page. Past volunteers who have not worked at the shelter in over six months are required to attend a volunteer refresher course. We request that friends and family members of new volunteers do not attend the orientations and refreshers unless they have also signed up with the volunteer coordinator.
