Individuals who love animals will love being a Foster Volunteer at The Humane Society of Central Oregon! Opening your heart and home to provide temporary care for kittens, puppies, and bunnies and in some cases, adult animals, is a tremendously rewarding experience for both the volunteer and the foster animal.
Foster Volunteers are an integral part of HSCO mission of saving animal lives. Hundreds of animals receive temporary homes and wonderful care from our dedicated team of Foster Volunteers until they are ready to be adopted into a permanent home.
Fostering is a great way to bring a furry companion into your life when you are not quite ready to make a lifetime commitment. Fostering also allows you to volunteer from the comfort of your own home. You will be enriching their lives as well as yours!
HSCO is always recruiting for Foster Volunteers, but has a high season during the months of April through November. Some animals may only need a home for several days while others may need several months of care. Foster animals are carefully matched with foster homes according to their needs and the foster’s abilities.
HSCO Foster Volunteer Application
We welcome you to apply to the Volunteer Foster program.
Once your application is received, the Foster Coordinator will contact you with the next steps in the application process.
- Every applicant (age 18 years or older) will need to pass a background check.
- There is a nonrefundable $25.00 on-boarding fee which includes the background check, HSCO FOSTER tote bag & training. All approved volunteers will be responsible for the fee prior to completing the background check. Tote bags will be provided with your first foster case. This insures that we are able to dedicate more resources to our animals and we thank you for your support. If this constitutes a financial hardship for you, you may request a fee waiver by contacting us directly.
If you are also interested in volunteering at the HSCO Shelter, you must fill out a HSCO Shelter Volunteer Application as well. Click here to learn about the Shelter Volunteer application process.
