Rehoming
Your Pet

Rehoming a pet is never an easy decision. The Humane Society of Central Oregon is committed to being a resource for our community.

Rover Training
:
Behavior is one of the top reasons dogs are surrendered to shelters like HSCO. Before rehoming, we encourage you to explore support such as Rover, which offers affordable 1-1 training, virtually or in your home.  Click here
Home To Home
We strongly encourage families to usepe you will first consider using Home To Home to rehome your pet. Home To Home is a free website that allows you to list your pet and directly participate in the rehoming process – which is not possible after surrendering your pet to our shelter. Often this is the least stressful option for your family and your pet and it can help save precious shelter resources! If you are not successful rehoming your animal yourself, you can always reach out to us at the shelter to schedule an appointment.

Surrendering a Pet to HSCO
Please note: Due to current shelter animal capacity and staffing, HSCO is temporarily limiting owner surrenders to emergency situations only. We are scheduled approximately one month out for intake appointments and are unable to accommodate non-emergency requests at this time. We understand this is difficult news if you're looking for help, and we're grateful for your patience as we care for the animals already in our shelter.

Emergency Surrenders
If you are in an urgent situation regarding your pet, please contact our front desk and our team will help determine next steps. Call the shelter at 541-382-3537.
