Foster
Program

Individuals who love animals will love being a Foster Volunteer at The Humane Society of Central Oregon! There are opportunities to foster kittens, puppies, and small animals as well as adult cats and dogs in our Safety Net program. Opening your heart and home to provide temporary care for kittens, puppies, and bunnies is a tremendously rewarding experience for both the volunteer and the foster animal.

Foster Volunteers are an integral part of HSCO's mission of saving animal lives. Hundreds of baby animals receive temporary homes and wonderful care from our dedicated team of Foster Volunteers until they are ready to be adopted into a permanent home.

Fostering is a great way to bring a furry companion into your life when you are not quite ready to make a lifetime commitment. Fostering also allows you to volunteer from the comfort of your own home. You will be enriching their lives as well as yours!

Time Commitment

HSCO is always recruiting for Foster Volunteers, but has a high season during the months of April through November. Some animals may only need a home for several days while others may need several months of care. Foster animals are carefully matched with foster homes according to their needs and the foster’s abilities.

HSCO Foster Volunteer Application

We welcome you to apply to the Foster Volunteer program.

Once your application is received, the Volunteer Coordinator will contact you with the next steps in the application process.

Every applicant must be 18 years or older and will need to pass a background check.

There is a nonrefundable $25.00 on-boarding fee which includes the background check.  All approved volunteers will be responsible for the fee prior to completing the background check. Tote bags will be provided with your first foster case. This insures that we are able to dedicate more resources to our animals and we thank you for your support. If this constitutes a financial hardship for you, you may request a fee waiver by contacting the Volunteer Coordinator.
