Volunteering

There are several volunteer options for groups interested in helping the animals. HSCO can provide tailored volunteer experiences which best match the group and current need at HSCO.  Your placement will depend on the frequency of volunteering and project availability. All placements help the animals but not all group volunteer placements work directly with the animals.

Ongoing:

Ongoing volunteer placements are based on an approved Youth and Community Group Application. Approved applicants will have set and designated tasks.

Please read the Youth and Community Group Volunteer Handbook then fill out the application. Once the application is turned in, the Volunteer Manager will call the primary contact to discuss options and availability.

Onetime:

One-time volunteer opportunities are a great way to expose your group to the shelter or thrift store environment and the volunteer program. Activities may include working on the dog trails, sorting and pricing items at the thrift store, making cat and dog toys, etc. One-time opportunities are perfect for social groups, Girl Scout & Boy Scout troops, or other groups looking for a team bonding experience.

Please call the Volunteer Department to learn more about the current project availabilities. 541.241.3721
